In the press!

I loved making this hexietile quilt for the Schnitzel and Boo mini quilt swap last year and it seemed lots of other people loved it too when I posted in on Instagram and now, it’s been shared in a magazine!

I was super excited to see it in this months edition of Love Patchwork and Quilting magazine (even if I wasn’t credited for the photo!). That’s me on the left and Aromrak Luangrath‘s gorgeous mermaid version on the right.

To have a go at your own version of this quilt, check out Julie Hirt’s free hexietile paper piecing pattern. If you share on social media, I’d love to see!

Mini Raspberry Kiss

I’ve been seeing the Raspberry Kiss and Mini Raspberry Kiss blocks all over the internet for a long while and finally got myself together to have a go. I raided my scrap bins and was please with the results!

Mini Raspbery Kiss WIP

I used mainly Cotton and Steel basics, with a few precious bits of Anna Maria Horner and some Alison Glass with Kona Silver (I think – I’ve lost my colour card!) as the background.

Mini Raspberry Kiss Top

I’m happy with the outcome, now need to find the time to turn it into something, another cushion, perhaps, a wall hanging? I’m not sure, what do you think?

Schnitzel and Boo Mini Quilt Swap – Round #3

My first project of this year was my #schitzelandboominiquiltswap quilt. I did round 2 of the swap earlier on last year and enjoyed it so much I wanted to try again.  I am usually a, “leave it to the very last minute” person for swaps but as I had some time over New Year, I decided to get this ball rolling and boy am I glad I did.

This swap is a first for my partner, so I did’t have a huge amount to go on, she likes ‘colourful cottons’ and doesn’t liked themed pieces. Well, that’s a good job, partner, because I am the same!

I received some “Quilt in a Day” flying geese rulers for Christmas, if you haven’t tried these, they are a sure fire way to perfect flying geese, I urge anyone/everyone to try them. I decided if I love flying geese then I’m sure my partner will too. So I started sewing on New Years Eve and by lunchtime on New Years day I had a mini, quilted, bound, labelled and ready to go to it’s new home! Yay!

I love the sharp lines of the geese and straight line quilting next to the colourful, watercolour flowers in the fabric. I’m not sure what the fabric line is but I do know it’s from Free Spirit (I got a sampler box for Christmas, lucky me!). Do you know what the line is called? I’d love to know if you do!

I mailed this to my partner last week and am eagerly awaiting the arrival of mine…. looking on Instagram there are so many I would love to give a home with me! I’ll keep you posted when it arrives!

Have you taken part in the Schnitzel and Boo Mini Quilt swap this time? Do you enjoy taking part in swaps or any kind? Let me know of any good ones coming up!
